NATURAL THERAPEUTICS CLINICAL TRAINING INSTITUTE

NTCTI arranges individual clinical training experiences with experienced practitioners in the healing arts, including naturopathic medicine, Oriental medicine, and body work. Trainees participate primarily in observational preceptorship training, supported by resource materials and one-on-one meetings with preceptors. Applicants must be advanced students or practitioners in the healing arts.

ADVANCED PRECEPTORSHIP TRAINING IN PAIN MANAGEMENT

Observational training is available at New Health Medical Center in Edmonds, Washington, founded in 1982, whose Pain Therapy Program practitioners include acupuncturists, naturopathic physicians, massage therapists, physical therapist, medical doctor (physical medicine specialist), chiropractor, counseling therapist, and reflexologist. Training is coordinated by NTCTI and NHMC director, Dr. Richard Kitaeff. He was the first Westerner to graduate from Meiji College of Oriental Medicine in Osaka, Japan in 1975 and a member of the first graduating class of naturopathic physicians from Bastyr University in 1982. He completed clinical internships at the Kyoto Pain Control Institute and the Osaka Medical College Hospital Pain Clinic. He was the founding academic director of Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is a staff member of Northwest Hospital as an acupuncture pain specialist. He has lectured internationally on acupuncture and naturopathic pain management and has published articles and chapters in professional journals and textbooks.

"Dr. Kitaeff: I want to thank you immensely for the opportunity to have completed a 5-week apprenticeship with you. Watching and observing your style of healing in treatments was very inspirational. I particularly liked the variety of reflex systems you use and also enjoyed how you describe your work to your patients. Also, I found very valuable the tips you share regarding tobacco cessation and addictions in general. Thanks again."
